Hello and thanks for visiting our sparkly new website! If you're here then it's safe to assume that, like us, you're an appreciator of The Skinner Brothers. Built by the fans (us) and for the fans (you), we hope that you will help us make this thing into something we can all be proud of.

In an effort to lay our cards on the table, so to speak, we thought we'd each write a little about why we're doing this and what we hope to achieve.

So here we go. Jamey's up first!

Why are we doing this?

I think we created this blog for the same reason anyone ever creates anything—to try and share something we love with the world! We wanted a place where likeminded people could go for the latest news on our favorite artists without the ever-changing restrictions social media imposes upon us. We also want to amplify the voices of those artists in a way that's clean, and not act as gatekeepers standing between fans and the artists deserving of recognition unless they pay-to-play. Isn't that what everyone says in the beginning? By my calculations we should be corrupted by power in no time!

What do we hope to achieve?

Well, I wanted to start a cult but Jackie said this would be easier. Joking, of course (unless you're into it?), but I guess my goal here is to bring as many of the SB Family together as possible, between art submissions, stories, and write-ups for the SB and their collaborators. My goal is to not feel like a talking head, force-feeding you information you never asked for— I want this to feel like home, and like something everyone can participate in if they choose to.

Then Jackie chimes in with the following.

Why are we doing this?

I've long had an idea in mind to do something to give a little back to independent musicians. Some of you may know I did begin another project, but I quickly realised I wasn't quite ready to do that, at least not on my own. So when Jamey came along with this amazing idea to do some sort of blog for The Skinner Brothers, I pretty much bit her hand off. I love the SB, I love writing and I love tinkering with website things, so it was pretty much a no-brainer (no pun intended, hah!).

What do we hope to achieve?

From my perspective, I really hope this place becomes something that everyone will get something out of. A central hub, away from the iron grasp of social media, where we can gather to share information and stories on the SB and the many incredible musicians they've worked with. I hope too that we can help the SB and affiliated musicians in some small way, by providing voices who are only too willing to shout from the rooftops about how great they are. In essence, this is a fan site for The Skinner Brothers, but I think we're both hoping it will also be more than that. I'm really excited to see where this journey will take us!

We're both eager to get started with this project and hope to involve the community as much as possible. This is our way of giving a little something back in a form that hopefully everyone will find fun and useful!

As is fitting for a site centred around the best independent band around, this publication is truly independent. There's no social media or big companies involved, it's just us on our own paid for hosting, doing our own thing, with complete control over the content.

It might take us a little while to find our groove, so please be patient with us. We welcome feedback if you have any and can always be reached at the email address below.

Thanks for reading, and a big warm welcome to Bad Brains!
