Song of the Week: Culture Non-Stop
This week's Song of the Week is Culture Non-Stop!

Jackie had to step aside for some last-minute hang gliding lessons (unconfirmed), so you're stuck with me again this week— don't make that face, it'll stick like that. Just try to read this in her much cooler accent, and we'll get through this together, I promise.
Culture Non-Stop is a lively, exhilarating, track with pounding drums and prickly guitar riffs that challenge its listeners to dive headfirst into a lake of loosely controlled chaos. If you know anything about the Skinner Brother's fan base, you'll know that doesn't take much convincing on our part, but this song goes that extra mile for us anyway! The gripping, razor sharp lyrics immediately pull you in with their eerily hypnotic cadence and fierce energy that makes you want to crank the volume up until the speakers weep. Once the initial rhythm snags you by the collar, there's no escape— you'll be thrashed about like a ragdoll, but at least you'll wake up with some cool stories to tell.
As we've come to expect, the Skinner Brothers have a unique aptitude for dissecting various genres of music, stitching them back together like Frankenstein's monster (or that other movie we aren't going to talk about 🤫) and finding a way to bring them back to life in the most unexpected ways. This track is yet another in a long line of examples that not only showcase the band's versatility, but their rough-and-ready attitude as well. This vibrant, 'here for a good time, not a long time' banger is a gritty explosion of energy, pulsing with scathing wit and endless amounts of dancable fun. It's perfect for anyone craving something they can sing along to while simultaneously receiving a belt-fed chain of middle fingers straight to the face. In the moments throughout the day where you feel like you're flat-lining yourself, Culture Non-Stop proves to be more cost effective than a dose of epinephrine, and it doesn't even require approval from your insurance company.

All I can say is what a time to be alive! Of all the time periods we could have been born into, we lucked out and landed in the gilded age of music streaming. Despite the many shortcomings of the different platforms currently available, if it weren't for steaming services we may never have been exposed to this type of independent music at all.
Culture Non-Stop is a song that deserves to be heard on every single radio station worldwide, but thanks to the politics and pay-to-play nature of the music industry, that is not likely to happen anytime soon, which makes streaming the only viable option for people looking to discover something new. I wouldn't know, because the radio stations here in the States only play the same four AC/DC songs over and over as a form of psychological torture. Don't get me wrong, I love AC/DC, but I have this theory that one day we'll be out buying milk or something, Highway to Hell will come across the loudspeakers, and we'll all wake up like a bunch of sleeper cells ready to do whatever is necessary for God and Country. Admittedly, it's a shit theory, but it's a work in progress.

Culture Non-Stop violates your psyche in a much more agreeable way— it's bold and intoxicating, exemplifying what it means to live life on the edge of your seat while still managing to stay true to your roots. It's a message that seems to resonate strongly with people of all ages across the globe, especially those of us who have been witnessing the Skinner Brother's exponential growth these last few weeks firsthand.
At times, I'm sure it seemed like an uphill battle for Zac– going from writing songs in the middle of the night in a freezing cold park to releasing two albums and two EPs in the same year (pending the imminent release of Soul Boy VI and Sick, Sick Soul, of course). The hours have been long, and the days have been stressful, but I can only imagine it has been worth it to watch the number of followers steadily grow. That really is what it's all about, isn't it? Creating something you love that resonates with people?
I am almost jealous of the people who are just discovering the Skinner Brothers now, and who are about to hear all these songs for the very first time. But at the same time, I know that whatever they come out with next will be an instant classic as well, and by this time next year we'll all have a brand new playlist to obsess over. With that being said, Culture Non-Stop will still be on mine.

These lyrics were found in the wild— don't shoot the messenger!
I said quit talking smack Jack, you'll get yours too
From Mississippi to the Packnarm blues
I'm tired of hearing about these NYCees
The shit I've done I should have MBES
I fucking vibe on it man
No word a lie
I need the music in my system to feel high
I get live on it man
You and me the same
Man I ain't moving right
Until that sweet tequila hit my brain
And the culture non stop
I feel no pain
When the culture on lock
I said I stick it to the man ain't gonna sell my soul
Ain't no poser don't like Amon Düül
Check the script man no degree
Packed the whole place I ain't no NME
I fucking vibe on it man
No word a lie
I need the music in my system to feel high
I get live on it man
You and me the same
Man I ain't moving right
Until that sweet tequila hit my brain
And the culture non stop
I feel no pain
When the culture on lock
Yeah you could be beat me down I would be black and blue
But I'll still get up I'll be speaking the truth
Fuck the people who said we fake news
I flip 'em up you read between the twos
I fucking vibe on it man
No word a lie
I need the music in my system to feel high
I get live on it man
You and me the same
Man I ain't moving right
Until that sweet tequila hit my brain
And the culture nonstop
I feel no pain
When the culture on lock
