If you've been a member of the Skinner Brothers Family group on Facebook for any amount of time, you will likely have seen some jaw-dropping sketches from our very own Carol Harris come across your timeline (among the many other crafts she has shared with us along the way!)

Carol possesses a remarkable talent for crafting highly realistic drawings, masterfully employing a diverse range of artistic styles to infuse her work with vitality and depth. Her strategic use of color immediately grabs your attention and gives each piece a compelling combination of visceral power and profound emotional resonance. Her art isn't something that has been created for your passive observation, it allows you to experience the subjects through her eyes and actively engage in the interpretive and emotional journey she has orchestrated for you.

We were so excited when Carol agreed to do this interview with us, so let's cut the chit-chat and get right into it!

Q: How long have you been creating art and what inspired you to start?

I started drawing at around 13yrs, going on half-term trips to visit my nan who lived in Wales Pwllheli. So it really was just doodling and passing time at that point.

Q: How would you describe your art style? Are there any styles you'd like to try but haven't yet?

I'm not sure if I have a style as such, I kinda just get an idea and go with it, if that makes sense. Oil paints— I want to try more with them, but I find them quite difficult.

Q: What is your favorite artistic medium? Are there any others that you dabble with on the side?

I like pencil, but I'm doing more with charcoal, pastels, Biro etc. So trying to add a bit more medium where I can.

Q: Who is your favorite artist to create fan art of?

I probably would say Ren, but The Skinner Brothers are a great band to draw. Their style is unique. So yes probably Ren and the SB.

Q: Are there any specific tools or brands of materials that are favorites to use?

I don't really have a brand or anything. Sometimes the cheaper brands can be better, but not always, because Derwent are a good brand.

Q: Where is your cozy place? The place you feel most at ease when creating?

I literally draw from my bed— I sit and create an easel with stacked pillows. Sounds strange, but it seems to work.

Q: Do you have any advice for all the aspiring artists out there who are just beginning to learn their craft?

I don't really care, everyone is different. All I'd say is don't give up, and try not to compare your art with anyone else as this can be a little disheartening sometimes. Every artist is different, that's what makes them all individual.

Q: Anything else you'd like to add for the readers?

Hope this is okay, since it's not typed lol. I just find it easier. Let me know if you can't read my writing lol!

We can't thank Carol enough for the time she has taken to answer our questions! It has been such a pleasure for us getting this insight into her world, and to see how she manages to create such brilliant pieces seemingly out of thin air! I'm excited to see what she creates next!
